Experts of JSC “NPO VEI Elektroizolyatsiya” in cooperation with the National Research University “MEI” took part in the 7th International Conference on Modern Energy Systems, which was held from 6th to 9th of June, 2017 in Romania, Cluj-Napoca, one of the largest cities of the country, called “the heart of Transylvania” and is the center of Romanian culture and civilization. The event was organized by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, the electricity distribution company Transilvania Nord and the Romanian grid company Transelectrica with the support of the Romanian section of the IEC, the Romanian National Committee of CIGRE and the Power and Energy Society (IEEE PES). Since 2006, the forum traditionally brings together scientists, young researchers, graduate students, engineers from Europe and North America not only to present, review and discuss current trends and latest developments in the electric power industry, but also to focus on the industrial application of scientific researches.
Within the numerous sessions of conference – “Electromagnetics. High-voltage equipment and materials “- an employee of the company JSC “NPO VEI Elektroizolyatsiya” A.M. Timofeev made a report “Application of solid shielded insulation for complete high voltage switchgears” with the requirements for the insulation system elements for medium and high voltage switchgear. The main advantages and disadvantages of the conventional complete air-insulated switchgears and the relevance of the switchgears with solid insulation and solid shielded insulation were highlighted. The use of the isolation system described in the report makes it possible to significantly reduce the size of the switchgear and increase the safety of its operation. In the report, the analysis of the characteristics of insulating systems with solid insulation in switchgear with solid shielded insulation (SISS) was carried out and there were given recommendations for the use of solid insulation. Also, the main features of SISS were considered: the operation of isolation of switchgear in conditions of an inhomogeneous electric field; high working electric field intensity; large volume of solid dielectric; high operating temperatures; types of connections in switchgear with shielded insulation. (The full version of the report is available in the English version of our website in the Publications section).
Participation in such international events allows the company to be heard on the European platform for the exchange of experience and research, as well as to be aware of the key global trends in the electric power industry.
