NPO VEI Elektroizolyatsiya, JSC at the Scientific and Technical Council of Rosseti PJSC on issues of digitization and improving the reliability of the power grid complex

In mid-November, the Deputy General Director of NPO VEI Elektroizolyatsiya, JSC, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V.N. Varivodov, being the head of the permanent section “Technologies and Equipment of Substations” of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rosseti PJSC, held together with the Director for the Systems of SO UES JSC Zhukov A.V. a joint meeting of the sections “Technologies and equipment of substations” and “Mode management, automation and application of automatic control in power grids” in the framework of the Scientific and Technical Council of Rosseti PJSC. The meeting was devoted to the discussion of issues of digitalization of the power grid complex and increasing the reliability of its operation.

The event was attended by representatives of PJSC Rosseti, JSC SRC FGC UES, JSC NITSE, JSC VNIIR, JSC FTS, JSC IDGC Volga, JSC IDGC of Urals, PJSC Kubanenergo, LLC “TEKVEL Development”, National Research University “MEI”, the magazine “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution “, research and design organizations.

Opening the meeting, Deputy General Director of NPO VEI Elektroizolyatsiya, JSC, Dr.Tech. Sc., Professor V.N. Varivodov drew attention to the importance of the development of the electric grid complex in the direction of digitalization in order to achieve a qualitatively new level of reliability, availability and efficiency of the power grid infrastructure.

The lively discussion was aroused by the results of R & D performed by subsidiaries of Rosseti PJSC as part of the implementation of the national Digital Substation project, namely IDGC of Volga, PJSC on the theme “Development of standard technical solutions for the implementation of the 110 kV digital substation”and  IDGC of Urals, PJSC on the topic “Development of methods and algorithms for assessing the compliance of the proposed technical solutions in terms of relay protection and automation and process control systems to the technical requirements of the tender documentation, formed as an SSD file.” The specialists’ attention was attracted by the results of a pilot project for the implementation of an innovative system for monitoring partial discharges of PRY-CAM cable lines at the Kubanenergo PJSC facility. The work “Development of a software and hardware complex for optimizing circuit technical solutions taking into account hardware and object reliability indicators”, presented by A. Voloshin, Head of the Directorate of Smart Control Systems and Technologies, NTC FGC UES, Head of Relay Protection and power system automation NRU “MEI” was of the particular interest .

In conclusion, Varivodov V.N. emphasized the need to assess the effectiveness of the proposed projects for monitoring systems, including those with solid insulation, underlined its undoubted relevance and perspective.

As a result, decisions on digitalization and increasing the reliability of the electric grid complex as the part of the innovative development of the power industry were made.
